Fixing Fallacy With Natalie & Alex -- EP 25

Feeling like you’re stuck in an endless loop of self-improvement? You’re not alone. AND. We got you got you boo!

We’ve all been sold the idea that *something* out there will finally “fix” us—that if we just find the right job, partner, or practice, we’ll be happy. But what if constantly trying to fix ourselves is actually part of the problem?

In this episode of The Huffing Spirit Podcast, Alex Hindley and Natalie Dick dive into the “fixing fallacy” and the surprising ways it shapes our lives. Together, they explore the tension between self-acceptance and self-improvement, and how our attachment to outcomes can keep us from real growth. They even bring in some timeless wisdom from Taoism to keep things grounded.

Per usual, we cover a lot of ground in this episode. But this conversation is a breath of fresh air for anyone feeling overwhelmed by the self-help grind. Let this episode remind you of the power of embracing your truest self—no “fixing” required. Tune in and rediscover the joy of just being you!

Homework:

Take the thing that is tripping you up (relationship, money, job/lack of job, child) and causing discomfort.

Sit with that thing in your mind's eyes. “Say I fully accept you in all that you are in this moment.

And I’m not trying to fix you.” Pay attention to your body when you say “I accept you.”

Pay attention to where you feel this in your body and what you feel.

Witness yourself through the process of acceptance. AND if you’re having too much resistance. “ I accept the fact that I can’t accept this.”
